The increasing number of AI features in GitHub and VSCode, as well as, the relentless effort to push the technology down my throat was going on my nerves as we say here in Germany. There are useful scenarios for where LLMs provide some benefits and there are even other AI tools that may be beneficial. That said, I want to decide what I want to use and when. Also I want to have control over my code and issues and wiki pages. And due to events over the past 10 month, it came apparent that I have to become a little bit more digital sovereign, That said I moved my private GitHub projects over to Codeberg. As I did not used issues, I just had to clone the repositories to Codeberg using its importer.
In recent months – I guess the first time was in August maybe – Marc-Uwe Kling suggests that we do something about our digital sovereignty – calling ist Digital Independence Day. In essence, I started a little bit early, but anyway, this is a great idea and every little step helps.
Please consider donating to Codeberg when you migrate to their service – if you can.
